The Tavia Project is about striving for progress, not perfection. The seeds of The Tavia Project were planted in May of 2013 when I realized a deep desire to write and record music. A singer for most of my life, writing music was a whole new mode of expression for me. It has felt miraculous to discover latent abilities to write lyrics, melodies, harmonies, chords and song structures. Over the past few years I have learned that the craft of writing is completely different than the craft of singing. Singing allows me to remain on the surface, facing outward. Writing requires me to go within. Balancing these two directions has brought me a greater balance of the very same things in life.
Rather than waiting for a pristine and polished album, The Tavia Project is where and how I will share my development as an artist as it occurs, in real time. Be prepared to hear an exploration of different styles and ideas through collaborations with a variety of musicians and friends. I invite you to join me on my journey.
